Ladies and gentlemen….

Monday, 29 March, 2010

The moment you’ve all been waiting for…. the announcement of the winner of the iPod Shuffle!

And the winner is…… (drumroll, please!)  Oh, did I tell you why the announcement is so late? I was out of town all weekend for my two niece’s confirmation. It had been a while since I had visited them at their house, so I was really looking forward to going. We had great food, BEER, and tons of fun visiting the night before the ceremony.  I’m so proud of them! I can’t believe how fast these kids are growing up!

Ok, where was I? Oh yeah, the winner…..

Oh, and also, I remembered late last night that I had a dental appointment this morning for a root canal. Ugh! Exactly what you don’t want to start off your week, especially very first thing on a MONDAY! Thank goodness I have an awesome dentist! My numbness is wearing off and I can already tell I’m going to have some aching going on. Maybe I can play the “Oh, poor me, I had a root canal today” card when it comes time to fixin’ supper!

Ok, Ok!! I’m just messing with ya!

The winner is Momma Kiss! Yea!!  Congrats!  Woohooo!  I just recently “found” her and already I’m hooked on her blog. You really need to check her out if you haven’t already. Her website is www.mommakiss.blogspot.com I love her phrase “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” because really, isn’t that the way it is??!?  You tell it, sistah!!

Momma Kiss, I hope you enjoy your new iPod!!

iPod Shuffle. You know you want one…

Don’t you hate it when you are looking for something and you can’t find it?  And then months later you find it when you’re looking for something else??  And then months later you found what you were looking for when you found the other thing?

Well, guess what I just found?

A brand new 2nd generation iPod Shuffle!!

It was meant for a gift last year but since it was so neatly tucked away where “wandering eyes” wouldn’t see it…. Oh, who am I kidding!!  I hid it so well, that even I couldn’t find it, so when it came time for gift giving, I ended up buying another one. ~sigh~

Too bad for me because now I have an iPod Shuffle on my hands.

Awesome for you because now you can get your hands on my iPod Shuffle!

Don’t you just love how these things work themselves out?

This is how easy-peasy it’s gonna be for you to get music to your ears:

All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what one of your favorite songs is and what memory you have associated with that song. Then this Friday, I will use the true random number generator from www.random.org to pick the winner!

I’ll start you off. One of my favorites is “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Savage Garden because it makes me think of when my hubby and I first met and we’d talk on the phone for hours upon hours. It reminds me how incredible our new love was, and still is.

Oh I can’t wait! This is going to be sooo much fun!

So, go ahead! I’m anxiously awaiting your answers……

Top 10 Things I’m Obsessed With Right Now. Right this very minute…

Tuesday, 23 March, 2010

1. TWITTER!  I’m still a #newb here @Yankee_Wife, but I’m having sooo much fun! You girls are hi-LAR-ious! (I think I may be getting carried away-when it’s time to go to bed my hubby says “it’s time to stop tweeting now…”)

2. James Avery Craftsman jewelry. I got a charm bracelet from my mother for Christmas and have been adding charms ever since. I’ve also gotten a few rings. It’s really nice jewelry at an affordable price.

3. My new Bernardo shoes. Enough said.

4. This one’s a gimme: my iPhone. Totally, completely, 100% OBSESSED. It’s always in my hand. I live with it all day. Morning til night. (True confession: I sleep with it under my pillow. I feel ‘naked’ without it. If it’s in my purse while I’m out, I’m constantly checking to make sure it’s still there in my front pocket.) Wonder if I need therapy? I’m sure there’s an app for that out there somewhere.

5. Here’s another gimme: BASEBALL! My true obsession with baseball really started when my boys were playing. I loved watching them play! There’s nothin’ else like it for a baseball mom. When I first moved to Houston I was an Astros fan. Then when I moved to NY with Hubby, he was a Yankees fan so we watched Yankee games all the time. Love it!! Now I’m an obsessed Yankees fan. But don’t hold that against me-now that we’re back in the Houston area for a while, we have season tix for the Astros. (You can take the girl outta the south, but you can’t take the south outta the girl) Hubby and I are on a mission to go to a game at every MLB stadium. We’re almost halfway there.

6. Snoopy. I’m obsessed with anything Snoopy. Period.

7. Growing my hair out! I’ve gone from 10 years of this:

(picture removed-just imagine short blonde hair)

to this:

(picture removed-just imagine shoulder length dark brown hair)

I want to let it grow out past my shoulders. I’ve had my hair short for so long that I want to try something different. After I’ve had it that way for a while, who knows? Maybe I’ll go back to short again! Isn’t it a girl’s prerogative?

8. German Chocolate Cake. I have had this CRAVING for GCC for I don’t know how long now. I just can’t get enough. Ever tried GCC ice cream?? It’s soooo delicious….

9 and 10. I’ve saved the best 2 for last. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Hubby and my boys. They mean the world to me! I will forever love them with all my heart!  xo

I’m totally linked!!

All good things must come to an end. Or so I’ve been told…

It’s official.

Spring Break is over. Or rather my “Adults Only Spring Break”, which I told you about here.

When I had this vision of my spring break being adults only, I’m thinking “Oh yeah, there’s gonna be some beer drinkin’ going on!”  I mean, doesn’t Spring Break + No Kids=BEER??  Bring on the Blue Moon! The Shiner Bock! The Corona! The Sam Adams! The Witte! The WHATEVER!

I’m also thinking, “….and there’ll be some partyin’ going on….”  We’re “this close” to the beach! We have a grill. A cooler. An umbrella. Beach chairs. Suntan lotion. Shades. Nice visual, huh?

I envisioned evening walks holding hands with my honey on The Strand, the historic downtown area in Galveston. There are restaurants, cafes, souvenir stores, nautical shops, boutiques, sports bars, a chocolate factory (yumm!), and even an old time soda fountain shop with a taffy pull in the back. There’s usually a live band playing somewhere, and you can get a henna tattoo on almost every corner. The trees have strings of lights in them, and you can take a carriage ride if you’d like. Yeah. And there’s a store that sells $2.00 beer on the sidewalk. That means you can walk holding hands with your honey with one hand, and have a beer in the other. NIIIIICE!!!

And I really wanted to celebrate St. Patty’s day with some BEER.

What “Adults Only Spring Break” REALLY meant was….

…having adult responsibilities, like working, having to get up early.

…the hubs working late a couple nights.

…no green beer.

Now don’t get me wrong. Although most of Spring Break had mostly responsibility-type things going on, hubs and I did have fun. We did the evening beer-drinkin’ walk one night. We cruised along the Seawall umpteen times, checking out all the crazy spring breakers. We even went to Schlitterbahn, the water park here in Galveston, to check out the heated wave pool. The billboard said (and I quote!) “Open March 6-Now Warmer!”. It’s true! It was warmer. THAN ANTARTICA! Maybe…

Obviously, Spring Breaks for 40-somethings just aren’t the same as they used to be.

I don’t wanna grow up…..
